Northern Ohio audiences are invited to spend an evening with the residents of Armadillo Acres trailer park when the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland (ATFGC) and the Community AIDS Network (CAN) present their seventh annual benefit musical.  “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” will be performed on Monday, August 24, 2009 at Paul W. Cassidy Theatre in Parma Heights.  All proceeds from the August 24 performance will benefit ATFGC.

Performed off-Broadway in 2005, “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” is a laugh-filled evening, with a plot featuring a stripper, gossip, adultery, agoraphobia, hysterical pregnancy, huffing, kidnapping, trashy television talk shows, a bad perm, reckless driving, capital punishment, flan, singing, dancing, and – of course – a tornado headed for the trailer park.  The story centers on Norbert and Jeanie Garstecki, whose plans for their twentieth anniversary celebration are sidetracked by Jeanie’s fear of leaving their mobile home...and by Norbert’s dalliance with the bombshell who just moved in next door, Pippi.  As Norbert tries to choose between Jeanie and Pippi – and as Pippi’s ex-boyfriend, Duke, tracks her down to rekindle the relationship – trailer park residents Betty, Lin and Pickles provide help, commentary, and three-part harmony.   The music and lyrics are written by David Nehls, with a book by Betsy Kelso.
